A website and the App can look good, but it can be difficult to use for users. A UX audit helps finding issues that cause confusion for users, where they get stuck in the process, and why they leave midway without completing the full task.

Who Your Users Are in India

According to a Business Today summary of the Kantar and IAMAI report, Internet in India 2024, rural India had 488 million active internet users, while urban India had 397 million. The report said that by 2025, India was expected to cross 900 million active internet users. According to that, around 57% of the users go for content in their regional language. The average time users spend online every day is 90 minutes.

There are two things to remember: these numbers are from a summary, not from the original report. In addition, the summary has no numbers to show mobile and smartphone users. These numbers show that Indian users have different needs and preferences. A good UX audit should take these differences into account.

What a UX Audit in India Should Check

In our opinion, a useful audit is how people use the website and the app.

  1. Key tasks: Is the user able to easily sign up, make payments, or find the information they need?
  2. Navigation and menus: Are the labels and menus easy to understand? Are users able to find what they actually want without getting confused?
  3. Language and content: Is everything simple and clear? Can a user who prefers regional languages is able to use the product easily?
  4. Speed and devices: Do the website and app work well on an average smartphone and with a slow internet connection?
  5. Forms and error messages: If something goes wrong, does the message explain the problem and how to fix it?
  6. Accessibility: Can people with visual, hearing, or movement-related difficulties use the product?

After the audit, you should have an arranged list of problems according to their importance. The report should explain which problems need to be fixed first and why, instead of just opinions.

What to Ask Before Hiring a UX Audit in India

  • Will you review the product yourself and test it with real users?
  • Which tasks and types of users will you include?
  • Will you rank problems by importance and the effort needed to fix them?
  • How will your account for Indian languages and different devices?
  • Will you help us fix the problems you find?
